Mission

The mission of The American Board of Interventional Pain Management is to advance the specialty of Interventional Pain Management and rebrand pain management as a multidiscplinary specialty utilizing advanced interventions, complementary and alternative modalities for the treatment of chronic pain and reduce reliance on addictive and harmful medications. In addition, a purpose of The American Board of Interventional Pain Management is to serve the public by advocacy, education and credentialing of the field of Interventional Pain Management.

Goals and Objectives

1. To provide information and further advocacy about the specialty of Interventional Pain Management to the public.
2. To establish Interventional Pain Management as a medical subspecialty through development of certification and maintenance of certification.
3. To evaluate candidates who qualify for examination eligibility to certify as Diplomates in Interventional Pain Management through the ABIPM.
4. To develop, maintain and improve the quality of graduate medical education in the field of interventional Pain Management by collaborating with related organizations and educational institutions.
